EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this conference, you should be able to:
- Identify symptoms, risk factors, causes, characteristics and management goals for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Describe alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD), its function, possible effects of AATD and diagnosis
- Identify parameters used in asthma control assessment and discuss importance of combining them for more realistic assessment of your patients
- Evaluate therapeutic options to personalize treatment of your patients with COPD, AATD and/or asthma
- Utilize smoking cessation interviewing techniques to improve the outcomes of your patients who smoke
- Explain the role of spirometry in diagnosing these diseases and interpret results to properly manage and monitor your patients with limited lung function
