A half day symposium addressing the recent progress in the prevention, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, including key issues in patient management and to support quality clinical practice of healthcare professionals involved in their care.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review the latest trends and issues in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Evaluate new diagnostic and/or therapeutic strategies as they relate to specific clinical entities in the setting of gastrointestinal disease, including functional gastrointestinal disorders, acid-related disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease, among others.
- Review current concepts underlying the pathophysiology and management of functional bowel disorders (irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation), as well as the impact of these disorders on the healthcare system and patient alike.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of gastroenterologists, primary care physicians and other healthcare professionals interested providing care for individuals with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
