A half day symposium addressing the recent progress in the prevention, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, including key issues in patient management  and to support quality clinical practice of healthcare professionals involved in their care.

 

 

ACCREDITATION AND CREDITS

EXCEL Continuing Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

EXCEL Continuing Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of six AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

EXCEL Continuing Education is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the FL Board of Nursing Provider # 50-619.  The participant will be awarded 6 contact hours of credit for participation in the activity.

 

 

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

 

  1. Review the latest trends and issues in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
  2. Evaluate new diagnostic and/or therapeutic strategies as they relate to specific clinical entities in the setting of gastrointestinal disease, including functional gastrointestinal disorders, acid-related disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease, among others.
  3. Review current concepts underlying the pathophysiology and management of functional bowel disorders (irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation), as well as the impact of these disorders on the healthcare system and patient alike.
  4. Prevention of Medical Errors - Review diagnostic errors, root cause analysis, case studies and risk management measures to prevent errors and increase patient safety.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE

 

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of gastroenterologists, PCP’s and other healthcare professionals interested in providing care for individuals with diseases of the GI tract.
