EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
- Illustrate the physiologic secretion of insulin in the normal and diabetic state in puberty and potential long term complications.
- Assess and evaluate the physical and emotional barriers that prevent youths with diabetes from adherence to their therapeutic regimen(s) and achieving metabolic control.
- Review and discuss pharmacologic treatment options for T1DM patients.
TARGET AUDIENCE AND SYMPOSIUM GOAL
This conference is designed to meet the educational needs of Endocrinologists, Internal Medicine and Primary Care Physicians, Diabetes Educators, Behavioral Scientists, Fellows, Residents, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physicians Assistants and other HCPs who in the course of their practice treat or manage T1DM adolescent/young adults; want to update their knowledge regarding assessing and monitoring of T1DM patients; and increase their competence in transitioning these patients to adult treatment.
